So basically you’re so set in your worldview that nothing anyone says (especially a man) can convince you and if anyone tries to give a different opinion from some truth you hold dear you just say “FUCK YOU” and be overly emotional to them?> If I say you are wrong and present facts that I think prove you are wrong you can counter with your argument and your facts, to just throw a tantrum is extremly childish and hurts your credibility. The problem with you and everyone like you is that you have all these beliefs, you all gather in message boards or forums or in person then get into a giant circle jerk only reinforcing your beliefs with zero dissenting opinons. If you really wanted to prove you are right and people who disagree with you are wrong you’d have a official debate with them. Like many religous fundamentalists, you get mad, say some obsenities and filled with rage and smug self-righteousness

I get people wanting to celebrate something they like. I’m part of a lot of fandoms myself.

But there’s something particularly annoying of what Harry Potter fans do. They talk about how great they are, how the books and movies are, how much money (why the fuck does that matter?) the franchise has made, how great JK Rowling is.

Then there’s how they always need to put down Twilight to make themselves feel superior. I’m no Twilight fan but it’s just so juvenile to do that.

It doesn’t help that the books I find completley mediocre. Just the typical “eat your vegetables, power of love” boring as fuck black and white morality.

Men's Problems

The only reason women seem to have more problems than men is that womens problems are politicized.

For example: let’s say that a woman is raped and there’s a lot of media coverage about it. It’s not presented in a “a terrible thing happened to a person”, it’s “this terrible thing happened to this woman by a man and it happens all the time”.

If something happens to a man like prison rape. Well the media ignores it most of the time, but if it gets reported it’s in the “This is a terrible thing to happen to a person”, it’s not made into a specific, gender politics related, “This happens to MEN”.

Same with homelessness, it’s presented as a American or human problem not a specific MENs problem.

Also there are no network of blogs for men like there is for women. So if a woman gets raped it’s immediatley posted on a lot of womens blogs, but there’s no similar mens blog networks.

I’m really frustated with my fellow men. It seems men are stuck in this mentality where the only time they acknowledge being a man or celebrate being a man is through frat boy, beer commercial, ultra dumb (the men’s equivalent of dumb blonde), immature way.

Obviously there are now a good number of MRA and masculine blogs that analyze in a deep way mens issues and what it means to be a man but not enough. Not enough for the majority of society to know they exist. Not all women are feminists but they at least know the general idea (or so they think).

As much as feminists harp on the Patriarchy all I see is a depressing lack of empathy men display for their fellow men.

I read a NY Times review of it. Basically how much better women are than men.

So if I read an article of how women do poorly in science and math I’ll feel no reservation in interpreting that not as how women are being held back but how men just kick womens asses when it comes to science and math.

Men are just better than women at science and math. And a lot of other things, we shouldn’t be afraid to say it, brag about it, rub it in people’s faces.

Borders, Blockbuster, Tower of Records

Remember when Blockbuster closed a lot of their shops? Or when Tower of Records went under?

The reaction among the younger generation was basically good riddance. With MP3’s and digital delivery those chains were dinosaurs. They deserved to go under right? Just capitalism at work.

Oh and Blockbuster deserved it after all those rewind and late feeds they charged.

I use to think this too but I just thought about all the people that work at those places. Whatever faulty business model, bad management, or clueless CEOs that run them those chains use a lot of people. The people that work there became unemployed, when Best Buy and Barnes & Noble go out of business many more will be unemployed.

Those kinds of jobs aren’t coming back.

I mean that is really disastorous. Not just for them but for all of us. If you know economics you know, one person loses their job they spend less money, then someone else makes less money and it becomes a cycle.

That is the trend we’ve seen in America. Manufacturing goes to China or some other country for cheap labor, no more jobs for Americans. Now places like Blockbuster or Borders goes out of business and that’s not even due to outsourcing, it’s due to digitization.

This is the kind of stuff neither party talks about. Oh they pay lip service to jobs and the economy but neither of them have a plan to bring back manufacturing jobs or how America is going to replace those jobs.

And all we talk about is abortion, gay rights, gun control, or Israel. It’s all just a distraction.

Islam

Muslims collectively are like a person with a anger management problem. The slightest thing sets them off.

Obviously not all muslims are like this blah blah blah, but it’s undeniable as we see these acts of violence in Libya and Egypt that the fundamental problem with Islam is that they still have a Middle Ages way of thinking when it comes to religon and blashphemy.

I don’t care how unthinkable, offensive or insulting it is when someone makes a cartoon about Muhammad, or makes a movie about Muhammad. I simply do not care, it does not give you an iota of justification to commit violent acts.

If you want to launch a boycott against the country of origin of this movie that is your right, peacefully protesting, writing letters, making a counter-movie, that is your right.

But nothing excuses violence.

But the people I’m most dissapointed at are not these muslims that are acting violent, it’s the people within the western democracies that are putting the blame on the filmmakers. Saying they should not provoke Muslims.

Some people are saying the movie is crude, and lacks artistic merit.

DUDES. You completley miss the point.

It doesn’t matter how stupid or offensive or crude the movie is, the fact that people are going apeshit over a movie, A MOVIE, is what’s wrong. Now this is complicated by the fact this is not a small group but millions and millions of muslims. So maybe it’s easier to admonish the filmmakers instead of confronting millions of Muslims.

But let’s not dance around what’s happening, a group of people in the world are unable to practice their free speech when it comes to Islam and Muhammad because another group of people in the world get violently mad and might inflict injury or even death on whoever does it.

That, ladies and gentleman is what living in a police state is like. You can’t say something about a particular person because you’ll be killed if you do. People don’t seem to get this, because;

A. Religon is involved

B. It’s not a government doing the killing, it’s regular people (average muslims) doing the killing in a rioting fashion

But make not mistake this is exactly what people are referencing when they use words like Islamofacism.

Soldiers

Soldier = a high risk, hazardous job that one does voluntarily. Not a hero in my eyes.

Well you might say “If it wasn’t for people like them there would be a draft and you’d have to be a soldier”.

True but you could say the same thing about coal mining, or a nuclear waste technician. Any undesirable job theoretically would be filled by some kind of mandatory draft if nobody wanted to do it, but of course that never happens because there’s always someone who wants to do it.

“They’re protecting the country”.

So are police officers, why don’t they get the same respect? Being blown up in Afhganistan = Being shot by a armed robber, dead is dead.

A police officer definitley has it easier but my point is they’re both defending citizens. The only difference is police officers give people tickets and stuff. And how cuddly would those troops be if instead of being in Afhganistan they were here, patrolling our streets, telling people what to do, arresting people for speeding or DUI? Suddenly not so loveable.

You know who heroes are? In my view there men in South Korea who are FORCED to go into the army (mandatory 2 year service for all MALES). They have to drop what they’re doing, serve in the army for two years then go back to their lives. They don’t want to but they’re forced to. Most of them do it with no complaint, they get zero recognition, there’s no “We love our troops” because EVERYONE does it.

Those guys are my heroes.

In America the guys in the Army, Navy, Airforce, etc. I appreciate the tough jobs they do and I hope they get the best healthcare and pensions and all that. But do they deserve all this worship? No. They have a tough job, but they volunteered for it. They chose that career path.
